• OSSTT believes that the Australian government has an obligation to ensure that all
asylum seekers and refugees transferred to Nauru and Papua New Guinea are
treated in accordance with international human rights standards and obligations
under the UN Refugee Convention and other treaties. These obligations include
ensuring access to timely resettlement opportunities.
We urge the Australian Government to prioritise the provision of safe, durable
resettlement for those men, women and children found to be refugees and
currently residing under temporary protection in either Nauru, PNG or in Australia.
