The staff, management and Board of OSSTT unequivocally reject the use of torture or any other form of abuse or mistreatment of people for any reason, under any circumstances. This particularly applies to people being held in places of detention.
Furthermore OSSTT believes that the Australian government has an obligation to ensure that all asylum seekers transferred by them to Nauru and Papua New Guinea are treated in accordance with international human rights standards including ensuring access to appropriate rehabilitation services.
